Turilli / Lione Rhapsody was an Italian Symphonic Power Metal band formed on December 5, 2018 by former Rhapsody of Fire members Luca Turilli, and Fabio Lione. The lineup also includes former Rhapsody of Fire members Alex Holzwarth, Patrice Guers, and Dominique Leurquin. Prior to the band's formation, the same lineup performed under the Rhapsody moniker (Rhapsody Reunion) for the 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour, which celebrated 20 years of the original band's existence. On the same day that the band formed, the band started a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to fund their debut studio album.
Luca Turilli and Fabio Lione branded their new band's music style as a "new generation of symphonic metal" based on their artistic mantra "Rebirth and Evolution", underlining the clear intention of evolving their sound into something different, modern and innovative.
While Fabio was still touring with Angra, Luca locked himself in his studio for 3 months to compose the new album, and at the end of December 2018, they entered the studio to record their new band's debut album Zero Gravity (Rebirth and Evolution), which was released on July 5, 2019
Crowdfunding Campaign
Rhapsody's 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour (Rhapsody Reunion) brought Luca Turilli and Fabio Lione back to stage together to perform their classic Rhapsody songs. Their creative minds collaborated once again and re-ignited the energy and creativity they’ve always shared. They were ready to continue their collaboration by presenting a modern style of music based on the artistic mantra “Rebirth and Evolution".
Rhapsody´s 20th Anniversary Farewell Tour saw Luca Turilli, Fabio Lione, Dominique Leurquin, Patrice Guers and Alex Holzwarth reunite and return to stage to perform their classic Rhapsody songs for one last time.
After the end of the Farewell Tour the original plan was for Luca and Fabio to go their own direction with different musical projects. Luca Turilli, who recently ended his Luca Turilli's Rhapsody adventure, wanted to abandon the metal genre definitely.
Touring together and sharing the stage once again brought a change of heart. The love of the fanbase, the crowd, as well as the positivity of touring and playing together made Luca and Fabio realize that something new could be brought to the world.
While they were thinking of new possible projects a common vision surfaced and moved the artistic spirit of the two men, still moving them forward to this day. The fundament of this vision, a true mantra for them both: “Rebirth and Evolution”!
After closing their Rhapsody chapter the two friends kept in search of creative, original and innovative ways to express their artistic visions. Luca and Fabio started visualizing their new collaboration. In that creating a whole new generation of Symphonic Metal, enriched with modern elements typical to music productions they love so much.
The excitement for their project grew with each passing day, so the men agreed to realize their vision under a new and clear band name: Turilli / Lione Rhapsody.
Although an enormous group of fans were waiting for this, record sales aren’t what they used to be. The music industry has changed and evolved a lot over the past 10 years. A change resulting in bands having a lower budget for recording.
Having no desire to cut corners and only wanting to give their fans the best of them Turilli / Lione Rhapsody turned to crowdfunding.

Fabio and I are completely excited for what is happening thanks to you and to have reached a great percentage related with our goal already, after only 48 hours. This is showing us all your respect for what Fabio and I did in 20 years of career and we deeply thank you for that.
With the farewell tour we closed an important chapter of our career and the fact of playing some of those old classic songs for the last time was really touching. Being a workaholic composer always searching for new stimulations and creativity and never looking back at the past as I don’t like to repeat myself for a long time,
I spoke with Fabio and we had a revolutionary vision. Despite considering closed the old Rhapsody chapter forever, we started speaking about the possibility of presenting a new innovative generation of Symphonic Metal, contaminated by the music we like to listen to in 2018.
We started being really excited imagining the possible link between the symphonic emotional aspect typical of our music and the modern and powerful sound evolution of the last years. For this new band we spontaneously adopted the artistic mantra “Rebirth And Evolution”.
This means that the new band, Turilli / Lione Rhapsody will guarantee music surprises of all kinds and the word “(r)evolution” will represent the essence of the band itself. New graphics, new modern sound with no compromise, instruments never used before by us.
We find obvious to say that every single penny collected through this crowdfunding campaign on top of our “minimum goal” will be invested in the band.
Release
We are excited to announce that our debut album entitled "Zero Gravity (Rebirth And Evolution)", will be released on June 28, 2019 through Nuclear Blast (King Records in Japan & Rest of Asia)!
Comprised of 10 tracks, the record was produced by Luca and Fabio themselves, whilst Simone Mularoni (Domination Studio, San Marino) took care of its recording, engineering, mixing and mastering. Guest appearances by Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Mark Basile (DGM) among others round off Turilli / Lione Rhapsody's first studio album.
The contemporary cover artwork was designed by Stefan Heilemann (Epica, Pain, Lindemann etc.), who has previously worked on both Luca Turilli's Rhapsody records.
Following the conclusion of the Latin American tour in January and February 2023 as their final tour, the band disbanded, with an announcement prior that they would be "closing the chapter of their career for good". Prior to closing it, the band did their final tour in Latin America, and they were celebrating it by performing a “Greatest Hits” set every night including the band’s hits and fan favourites.
What kind of Rhapsody
Because I understand that you are a little mixup with all the Rapsody´s, here is some explanation. Luca Turilli and Alex Starapoli started Rhapsody in 1993. Because there was already a band with that name, they had to change it in 2006 into Rhapsody of Fire. In the meanwhile, Luca had already his own sideprojects, under his own name, and Luca Turilli´s Dreamquest. Luca left Rhapsody of Fire in 2011, and started LT´s Rhapsody. This lasted until 2016.
Rhapsody of Fire still exists as a band, with Alex Starapoli as the only original member. The rest of the band are new members.
In 2017 Luca Turilli, Fabio Lione, Alex Holzwart and Patrice Guers did the Rapsody Reunion Farewell Tour. Everybody, except for Alex Starapoli.
And from late 2018 we had the new Rhapsody, Turilli / Lione Rhapsody. With the same members as Rhapsody Reunion. So at that moment we had two Rhapsody´s, Rhapsody of Fire and Turilli/Lione Rhapsody. Now with the disbanding of the band, there is one Rhapsody left, Rhapsody of Fire.
