Derdian

Derdian is a Power metal band with Symphonic touches from Milan Italy, formed in 1998.

Founded in 1998 by Henry Pistolese (guitar, vocals) and Marco Covelli (drums), Luigi Trapani (vocals/guitar) and Samuele Carrari (bass) joined the project. Initially, they aimed for a Thrash metal style and started by covering bands like Metallica and Megadeth. However, when they decided to write original songs, they started to approach it more like Power metal. This change influenced Luigi and Samuele to leave the band. The new band was completed by the addition of Max Raineri (bass), Luca Aversa (lead guitar), Federico Bonetti (keyboards) and Andrea Figus (vocals).

In 2001, they released their first self-produced demo CD called "Revenge". It was distributed only in Italy, but it received favorable reviews in local Power metal magazines and some music websites. After recording the demo, Federico and Max left the band due to lack of time and differences of opinion. They were replaced by Marco Garau (keyboards) and Alessandro Colombo (bass), both former members of the now defunct band Eternal Glory.

The band resumed writing songs and performing live again, but in January 2002, Luca Aversa (lead guitar) left the band due to time reasons and was replaced by Massimo Sangiorgi.

In February 2002, they played a show at the Indian's Saloon in Milan , in March at Transilvania, and in April at Osnago Madigans, where they participated in a contest, but vocalist Andrea, who had decided to leave due to differences, did not participate, and Enrico joined as vocalist on the evening of the contest.

During the long and difficult period, the band continued to write new songs, and the lineup finally stabilized with Danny Glick, a member of Silence, as the official vocalist, and Massimiliano Pitaro as lead guitarist. In December 2002, Danny Glick (vocals), Marco Covelli (drums), Massimiliano Pitaro (lead guitar), and Alessandro Colombo (bass) left the band. As a result of the search for new members, lead guitarist Massimo Sangiorgi returned to the band. Around the same time, Joe Caggianelli joined as vocalist, but the bass and drum rhythm parts were left unfilled. Temporary member Cristo, joined the band and new drummer Salvatore (current member Salva) completed the current band.

After self-promotion on Myspace, the band was approached by and signed with the American progressive label Magna Carta Records. In 2007 , they released a new album, "New Era part 2: War of the Gods", a power metal album themed on a mythical world where heroes and villains compete for supremacy .

On March 2, 2010, they released a new album, "New Era Pt. 3: The Apocalypse", also on Magna Carta Records. After that, vocalist Joe Caggianelli left the band and their contract with Magna Carta Records ended.

In October 2012, the band officially announced the addition of Ivan Giannini, a member of Iron Maiden tribute bands Holy Smokers and Flash Of The Blade, and began working on a new album. On February 15, 2013, the band released a teaser trailer for their new album, "Limbo". The album was available for purchase on March 13th on the band's website. The label has yet to be decided, and the album is an independent production.

In 2014 the band released “Human Reset”, in 2016 “Revolution Era”, in 2018 “DNA”, in 2021 “Black Typhoon”, and the fourth New Era album, pt.4: Resurgense, in 2023.
