BloodBound is a Swedish Power metal band formed in the summer of 2004 by two long-time friends Tomas Olsson and Fredrik Bergh.
The first demo was created and sent to a group of labels from all over the world in order to obtain a record deal. After a few weeks, offers started coming in and the band was highly appreciated due to its great acceptance by several labels. Two deals were signed, one with Metal Heaven for Europe and another with Marquee/Avalon for Asia.
In 2005, they began recording their debut album "Nosferatu", which was released in early 2006, quickly becoming a huge success and receiving positive reviews from many corners of the world. The album took them on tour playing as opening acts for bands such as Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Evergrey, Pretty Maids and Sabaton to name a few. The success of the album also earned them a licensing deal with Rock Machine Records, Brazil and Mystic Empire, Russia later that year.
During the 2006 tour they had a few members coming and going, including Kristian Andrén (Wuthering Heights, Memento Mori, Tad Morose), Johan Sohlberg (The Storyteller), Jörgen Andersson (Baltimoore) and Markus Albertson (Seven Sins). At the end of the tour Urban Breed decided to leave the band to focus 100% on his own solo project.
After a very turbulent and hectic year in which they really felt that some stability was needed in the band, Henrik Olsson asked his younger brother Tomas Olsson (guitar) and Johan Sohlberg (bass) to join the band as permanent members. This was in the late summer of 2006. They accepted and the band started working on their second studio album "Book of the Dead".

There was still a need for a new singer to fill the vacant position, so it took a little longer for the band to find a worthy replacement. After much research and auditions the band finally decided on German, Michael Bormann (Zeno, Bonfire) who joined the band in early January 2007. The album "Book of the Dead" was recorded between January and February 2007 and released on May 25, 2007. "Book of the Dead" was a very successful album for the band, having entered the Swedish Top 100 at #66.
Shortly after the release of "Book of the Dead", the band realized that with Michael's busy schedule it would be impossible to play all the live shows. Urban Breed was invited back, and played all of the band's shows and eventually became a permanent member of the band. The band's name quickly began to spread and their great momentum combined with the new album landed them on the HammerFall "Nights of Glory" European tour and the HammerFall Ocean Crusade in 2007, which gave them the opportunity to play in front of a larger audience.
Joacim Cans, the singer of HammerFall, was deeply impressed by the band. Later in 2007 they played again at larger festivals, such as the Sweden Rock Festival.
The band also headlined the major Bollnas Festival, where the band performed with a Symphony orchestra, inviting original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno to perform four "Iron Maiden" classics. This was the first time Paul had performed Iron Maiden songs with a symphony orchestra.
In late 2007, the band began work on their third studio album. While working on the third album, the band played several festivals during the summer of 2008, one of the highlights of the band's career being their performance at the Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic in front of an audience of 20,000 people.

In late 2008, the band signed a worldwide deal with the record label "Blistering" and began recording their third album "Tabula Rasa" in November and December 2008. The new album is a step towards a more original and modern sound. "Tabula Rasa" was released in Europe, the USA and Asia in March and April 2009 and was followed by a major European tour in April, where the band once again supported HammerFall in over 10 European countries.
Despite the band's apparent Black metal image (the band members have worn corpse paint-style make-up in promotional photos on their albums, website, and during some live shows), Bloodbound's music does not fit into the black metal category. Instead, it is more similar to the Power metal style of bands such as Helloween and Iron Maiden, although the lyrics sometimes address darker themes.
"Stormborn" (2014) marked a thematic shift of the band's lyrics into more medieval fantasy topics, with numerous references to the popular TV series Game of Thrones. From "War of Dragons" (2017), the lyrical themes have departed completely into medieval fantasy themes, with a particular emphasis on dragons and keeping up with the references to Game of Thrones, which are carried on in the following album "Rise of the Dragon Empire" (2019).
"Creatures of the Dark Realm" was released in 2021, "Tales from the North" in 2023, and 2024 saw the light of day of the second live album, "The Tales of Nosferatu - Two Decades of Blood (2004-2024)"
